Here's a second post for today. I did a photo shoot, with Frank and Jody's baby. This is the first time I've ever done portrait shots, and way for me to start with a baby... Anyways, they did turn out well. So here's a couple of them.

Since I did music earlier, I'm not going to right now, so just check the post just before this one to see today's music choice.

I haven't taken any pictures since my last post, and this one is way sooner than I would normally do another one. I'm just so stoked on this band I had to post them up. The band is Dream Theater, and they're quite possibly the BEST melodic metal band I've ever heard. First yes I did find them on Guitar Hero, but whatever, they're great. They've been together for 20 years now, and have released they're 9th album Systematic Chaos. I've got three videos for them, all great videos. The first is the music video for the song Pull Me Under, which is the song on Guitar Hero.

This second video is the song Forsaken, it's a good song with an animated video that was done really well.

And the last video is Forsaken is easily my favourite song by them. This is a classic Melodic Metal song.

Me, Luke, and Taylor went out to take some phots the other night. None of the bangers had their lights turned on, but it wasn't all bad we still got a few shots. There's nothing else new so here's the pictures.

For music this time, 3OH!3. 3OH!3 is made up of these two dudes that met in a University of Colorado Physics class, and for some reason decided hey lets drop the science and make sweet beats. These guys are new but tonnes of people know about them already. They formed in 2004, but didn't get signed until April 2008 when they were picked up by Photo Finish records. They're music style ranges from super sick technoish beats to techno/beat heavy rap. Check em out if you want something sweet to ride to, and don't already know who these guys are.

It snowed!!!!!, i'm too tired to write anything else right now cause i've been up for like 41 hours now. So here's a couple of pictures. These first two are from the east side of Osoyoos at maybe 12am.

Music this time is going to be....Okkervil River. They are an American Indie band, so really that could mean anything. So check out they're channel on Youtube. ( http://www.youtube.com/user/okkervilriver?ob=4 ) They Latest album is titled "The Stand Ins" It's not the greatest album I've ever heard, with the Begining being much better than the second half. It is a good album, I'm not going to recommend buying the physical CD this is one that can be best enjoyed by buying your favourite songs on Itunes and the rest won't be missed.

Well, Nanaimo's been cool, but It's time for some snowboarding. So I'm movin home. I've already got a board on hold waiting for me (09 Eddie Wall PM) and hopefully some binders (Purp and Yellow T9's) And that is really All I have to tell for this update, and no new pictures just a few from last season to try and build a little hype. Music first though.

First up Blackalicious, this dude is the man. He can freestyle like no one else, and keeps his music real. He's much like Technine in that way. He isn't a sell out, he's been around since the mid 90's and he's still doing the same stuff he did back then, and thats what makes him great. his lyrics are still about whats goin on in the world and the stuff that matters, not just about violence and money and talking to a terrible beat. The first time I heard Blackalicious was on the best video game ever, Amped 2, and then I didn't really hear anything by him or notice him for years, but he's underground hip hop, so he doesn't try to be seen. Here's two videos this time, first one is just showing his rhyme skill he raps using mad illiteration starting with A and going all the way through the alphabet without straying to far off subject, this video isn't an official music video but it's just for the song right, and it was well made. The second one is an official video and is just to show his typical stuff. And since I'm going to actually put the video's on the page now, I'm only going to do one artist at a time.

On Saturday I went to China Beach with Shayne and His roommate, to go surfing. The weather was pretty good, it was a little cloudy, but we had a little while when It was really sunny out. We also ran into a couple people from Kimberley that were out surfing for the day. Theres not really too much to say about it, so I'll just throw up some pictures.

I also got a new lens for my camera, it's a 50mm F1.8 and it's super small and light!

For the Music this time, lets see what I can come up with. I'm going to add something this time, I'm going to add a link to a youtube video of the artist, because I know alot of people wouldn't check them out if they had to search themselves.

First lets go with Lights, now I know I'm probably going to get hated on for this one. Lights, is really good, she has an amazing voice, and is really creative. But I think what I love about this girl the most, is the fact that she's a geek to the max, she had an interview on much music with the dude who's name I forgot, he dresses strange and is awesome. That's not the point the the interview took place in a comic book store, because that's where she felt the most comfortable. She plays guitar and seems pretty good at it, and has a video blog, but to top it off, Shes Canadian, and she's fricken hot.

Next up I've got Matt and Kim. Matt and Kim I compare to The White Stripes, Why? because they are a boy/girl duo group. I don't know what the relationship between them is, but I also don't think it matters. Kim plays drums in the band and Matt does vocals and keyboard. They're a super high energy electro-pop band from New York. They're really good if Indie's your style. They also had a song in a snowboard video last year, I think it was Thanks Brain, but i'm not 100% about that. Heres a video to check out. It's the song that was in the video.

And I'm going to end with something hardcore this time. No not Gogoroth, something less Satanic, but just as metally. Kataklysm, these guys are the kings of death metal. They do tonnes of sold out shows, and are one of the few death metal bands that have lyrics that can be understood. They're not for everybody though, you've got to be a fan of heavy growls for these guys. Check em out if you think you can handle it, without getting a headache.

Well I forgot that I wanted to add a Segment for Music. Music has been an extremely important part of my life recently, and I believe that music is what fuels our soul. It keeps humanity together as a whole. In my opinion there are four things that don't change no matter where you are, and those are Music, Surfing, Soccer, and Dreadlocks. But to get onto the point, this section of my blog will be basically reccomendations of artists that many may not have heard, or a review of an album, and it will all be my reccomendations, and my reviews. It will have a little for everyone one, because I listen to all music, yes even a little country now, but not much of it.

first up is Ben Harper, Ben Harper is a Californian musician that kinda combines Reggae with Blues, and he does it well. Ben Harper plays a lap slide for some of his music, which is not often seen in the genre. Nowadays he plays with a band, same kind of idea as John Mayer and his Trio, this is Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals. Their Latest album is "Lifeline", and was released last year, it's a good CD start to finish. If your a fan of Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Eric Clapton, or Bob Marley go out and buy the album.

Second up is Eddie Vedder, Some of you might know of him, he is the lead singer from Pearl Jam. Now he did the Soundtrack for the movie into the wild, and it is a great soundtrack. The whole thing is bassically a solo album by Eddie Vedder, and as far as I know it's the only way to get anything solo by him, but it is really good. He's got more of a country style too his sound, and he uses the Mandalin to get that through, also his voice is a bit rougher, experienced sounding that others in the genre. So again i'm going to reccomend buying it, I think it's worth it. And again this is if you like stuff like Jack Johnson, and other Solo Acoustic Rock / Folk Rock artists.

The Last one is Jamie Lidell. Right of the bat i'm going to reccomend EVERYBODY should go out and buy his latest album "Jim". Theres not much to say about this dude, He's a white man singing soul, and putin his heart into it. There's not alot of musicians these days that put their heart into the music like this guy, and to top it off, he's got class, and lots of it. This album puts me into a good mood and gets me amped no matter what i'm doing, so hurry up and go buy it, especially you snowboarders.

Read the next post too, they go together, I forgot to add this part before I pushed publish...
So it was my birthday today, and I decided to head on over to Tofino, and get some surfing in. Sadly, the swell this week has been fairly weak, and today turned out to be the worst of the week, so I spent most of the day at the skate park, which is sick. Overall Tofino is Amazing, by far my favourite small town I've been to. If anyone happens to be headin over the Tofino way, there's two places I reccomend checkin out.

First is Breakers Cafe, it's a great little coffee shop slash bakery downtown. Like any good coffee shop it was packed with dreadlocked hippies, and behind the counter were good lookin friendly baristas. Best part of all they're open untill 10pm! and if you ask me, hot barista's, hippies, and open late are the three key ingredients to any good coffee shop( Other than the obvious of a good Espresso). And if Luke reads this, No they're not like the usual that i'd point out to you guys, these girls are normal. They have a great menu and use lots of local ingredients and have many dishes that are deemed as "Ocean Friendly" seafood dishes.

The second place you should check out is a restaurant called Shelters. This is a restaurant that hosts everyone but is geared towards a 19+ crowd, as it has the bar right there as you walk in. Anyways though, the staff was super friendly. The food is good, it's not amazing, but it is good, and made with local ingredients, which is always a good thing. From what I saw it is the classiest and most expensive place in town, but from my experience it was worth it. I went there for lunch right around noon and I was the only one in there, so that was the only downside, but one group did show up as I was leaving, I don't know if that's normal or how busy it would be for dinner. Even still it was a good experience and i'd reccomend it.

Now I don't know what I was thinking in the morning, BUT I didn't take my camera with me. Call me an Idiot all you want, I should have had it, it was a beautiful day and Tofino makes for an amazing scene. But I will be back there to surf and I will take my camera next time.

So since I moved out to Vancouver island I've only picked up my camera once, and I mean I've only been out here for a month, but a photographer should have a camera on them at all times. Anyways though, the one time I took my camera out I did get two pictures I kinda liked so there they are.

Final week of Skate

It was the last thursday of July, so the last game of skate was today. It was quite the game, Everyone was there for it, and it was sick. Luke got beat up, and tea bagged by Lyle, which was hilarious to watch. I don't know what it was over, but Luke ended up sacking like 4 people throwing a hot dog in Lyles face and then gettin pinned down and tea bagged. Corey and Kylee slayed the grilling, though Taylor's

claiming that it sucked. Danny was there for the first time this year and threw down. He did Indy airwalks, kick flip indy's indy 3's and all those crazy big air tricks. Weber was throwin down some of the cleanest airs i've ever seen, and Matt had the best anouncing I've ever heard. And for the Third time in a row Zimmer won the whole game, takin a new set of Indy trucks, and Coltin took second and a pair of shoes. That's all I can think of for this week, so heres some pic's. Oh and I almost forgot, theres a little gift for all of you at the end of the pictures. Also there will be another update this weekend after a possible Invermere trip and a trip to Spokane.
